Why don't we get the old people to work on community development projects instead of letting them play bingo?
Some do. My local Habitat for Humanity affiliate has several groups of retired people who dedicate one day each week to volunteering on the jobsite, building homes with low-income people. They're known as the "Weekday Saints".
But don't you think that after a lifetime of working, people should be permitted to play bingo if that's what they choose to do with their days???

go out drinking (legally or otherwise)
sit at home playing Nintendo

All those sounds super fun! Also another one is guess the candy bar. You melt candy bars in diapers and you pass them around one and a time and guess what candy bar it is. It's super funny because it just looks like poo but it smells like the bars. That's probably the best game i've ever played.
