   I should add to ND's comment that we don't RUN the casinos/bingo halls online. We just do the marketing for them – by whatever means necessary.

   Thanks for your comment. My blog has been very quiet recently – other pressing preoccupations involving government cuts and a local charity where I'm a trustee.

   Re David Cameron I would not blame him if, coming from a background where people are 'born to rule', he was unable, instinctively to empathise with folk who feel at home in the ordinary end-of-terrace or village pub, but I would hope that he would try.

   The trouble is that I have observed that whatever ruling group is operative, whether, say, at Parochial Church Council or any other administrative level, mighty or humble, the instinct is to work with the system rather than challenge it. People who rock the boat are mocked, excluded or treated as lovable freaks.

   In view of the apparent resistance of the Conservatives and Coalition members to any suggestion that the law on smoking might be amended, I fear that David Cameron may be content to work with the current orthodoxy, which includes the pietistic secularists (to adapt, slightly, your description-very apt)

   I hope I shall be proved wrong.

   Meanwhile, how I agree with you about the old people and the bingo halls!
